ePortfolio & Digital Identity
Following the success of the first international Francophone ePortfolio conference at Québec in April 2006, the organisers of ePortfolio Montréal 2008 have pleasure in inviting researchers, policy-makers, practitioners and solution providers in the field of learning technologies to submit their contributions to the 2nd Pan-American and Francophone ePortfolio conference that will take place at Concordia University on 5-7 May 2008. This year’s focus will be on ePortfolio and digital identity, exploring the link between the records and services that contribute to the emergence of a digital identity.

"Self-organised learning in the interactive Web" - A change in learning culture?
Self-organised learning covers ways of learning, which allow learners in comparison to traditional educational scenarios a major dimension of self-determination and self-regulation: self-regulated learning is a self-initiated action that involves goal setting (why and what is learned?) and regulating one’s efforts to reach the goal (how it is learned?). Nowadays this way of learning is increasingly supported by interactive learning environments, semantically enhanced content and Social Software (e.g. Wikis, Weblogs, ePortfolios, Social Bookmarks, Social networks like YouTube, FaceBook, Flickr). The Internet itself can be seen as the future location of "informal learning".

Personal and Organisational Learning environments
ePortfolio 2008 is the key international event for the growing community of professionals interested in, and working with, ePortfolios. It brings together policy-makers, researchers, teachers, trainers, human resource managers and technologists. As a thematic event devoted to one domain, it allows an in-depth and broad exploration of the issues - and results in real outcomes. Past events have resulted in the creation of national and international networks, contribution to ePortfolio policy, the launch of the ePortfolio for All campaign, progress in ePortfolio interoperability through the Plugfest, transnational projects and numerous publications.

Why do we need an ePortfolio?

Das EiFEL European Institute for E-Learning hat den Artikel "Why do we need an ePortfolio?" publiziert:

Aus dem Lead zum Artikel:
«In the context of a knowledge society, where being information literate is critical, the ePortfolio can provide an opportunity to support one's ability to collect, organise, interpret and reflect on his/her learning and practice. It is also a tool for continuing professional development, encouraging individuals to take responsibility for and demonstrate the results of their own learning. Furthermore, a portfolio can serve as a tool for knowledge management, and is used as such by some institutions. The ePortfolio provides a link between individual and organisational learning.»
