Following the rich discussions triggered by the presence of Mozilla Open Badges at ePIC 2012, the 11th ePortfolio and Identity Conference intends to explore further the concept of 'openness' in relation to the themes traditionally addressed by the conference. In particular, as ePortfolio and Open Badges are containers of personal data, what is their place in what some predict as the next big revolution: open personal data?

Erstmals präsentieren Andrea Christen und Martin Hofmann am Internationalen Workshop "ePortfolios in Studium und Lehre - Visionen, Konzepte, Erfahrungen" das neue Poster zum Forschungsprojekt E-Portfolio PHSG. Der ePortfolio-Workshop findet am 18./19. November 2011 statt und wird vom Schreibzentrum an der Pädagogischen Hochschule Freiburg (Deutschland), in Kooperation mit AAEBL (The Association for Authentic, Experiential and Evidence-Based Learning) organisiert. Wir sind gespannt auf die Feedbacks der Teilnehmenden am Poster-Market.

Abtract:
Reflexive ePortfolios, group ePortfolios and career ePortfolios at the University of teacher education, Rorschach (Switzerland)

All students of the University of teacher education in St. Gallen write an ePortfolio during each of the three years of their studies (platform: Mahara). In the first year, reflections about the future profession in the field of professional and study skills are posted (reflexive ePortfolio). In the second year, group activities concerning different professional projects are documented (4 to 6 members; for instance: gardening with school classes; group ePortfolio). In the third year, the ePortfolio contains a personal video, a personal profile, personal objectives, experiences, education, qualifications, activities and references (career ePortfolio). The career ePortfolio can be sent with an encoded short link to any employer to access. During the poster session visitors can have a look at different ePortfolios. Information’s about accompanying research results are given.

Das E-Portfolio (digitale Reflexionsportfolio) an unserer Hochschule hat anscheinend seine Spuren hinterlassen. Abschlussstimmung am letzten Hochschultag vor den Schlussprüfungen zum Bachelor of Arts in Primary Education and "Master in Reflexion 2011".

Streamfolio ist ein interessantes Video-Portfolio Plugin oder "add-on Service" für E-Portfolios. Streamfolio erlaubt den Nutzer/innen Videos in diversen Formaten für das eigene E-Portfolio zu erstellen, zu speichern oder mit anderen zu teilen.

Streamfolio lässt sich gemäss Aussage der Betreiber in eine Reihe von Learning Management-Systeme, Content Management Systeme oder auch Stand-Alone-Websites einbinden. Das Video Portfolio-Tool gibt es anscheinend auch für Mahara. Bislang wird Streamfolio jedoch ausschliesslich von Klienten aus Australien und Neuseeland eingesetzt. Bei den doch beträchtlichen Preisen für die Nutzung pro Jahr (Individual membership, 1 user = $120 AUD; Small Business Licence, up to 1000 user accounts = $9,900 AUD) dürfte Streamfolio jedoch für die meisten Bildungsinstitutionen, welche sich bewusst für das Open Source E-Portfolio System Mahara entschieden haben, kaum eine Option sein. Nachfolgend ein kurzes Intro in Mahara Streamfolio:

Auf Einladung des Goethe-Instituts in Minsk (Weissrussland) durften Andrea Christen und Martin Hofmann vor knapp 10 Tagen im Rahmen der Studientage Deutsch zum Thema "Neue Medien und Sprachenlernen: Mediale Lernwerkzeuge im zeitgemässen Fremdsprachenunterricht gleich zwei Workshops zum Thema "Das E-Portfolio im Unterricht" leiten. Am ersten Workshop-Tag nahmen rund 20 Fremdsprachlehrkräfte für Deutsch verschiedener Schulstufen aus Weissrussland teil und am zweiten Workshop-Tag nochmals rund 20 Lehrpersonen von sogenannten PASCH-Schulen.

Das E-Portfolio im Unterricht

Im Workshop E-Portfolio im Unterricht werden unterschiedliche Formen von E-Portfolios (E-Reflexions-Portfolio; E-Gruppenpräsentations-Portfolio; E-Career-Portfolio) sowie ein Entwicklungsplan zum Aufbau einer E-Portfolio-Struktur über mehrere Jahre anhand von Beispielen vorgestellt. Angestrebt wird, zusammen mit den Teilnehmenden, das Nachdenken darüber, wie E-Portfolios einerseits übergreifend für mehrere Klassen, andererseits orientiert am eigenen Unterricht geführt werden und mit einer längerfristigen Perspektive an einer Institution eingebracht werden können. Dabei soll im Zentrum stehen, welche Aspekte aus Sicht von Fremdsprachlehrkräften in Bezug auf die Anforderungen, das Verfassen sowie das Feedback-geben in E-Portfolios zu beachten sind. Zwei Formen von Feedback-geben werden an konkreten Beispielen geübt und unter den Teilnehmenden verglichen. Abschliessend werden einzelne Forschungsergebnisse der Jahre 2006-2009 zu den E-Portfolios der Pädagogischen Hochschule des Kantons St. Gallen (Schweiz) vorgestellt. Im Verlauf des Workshops kann laufend ein eigenes E-Portfolio zu den Inhalten des Workshops online geführt werden (auf dem eigenen Laptop, falls vorhanden).

Eine kleine Studierendengruppe um Silas Kutschmann hat als selbständige Arbeit ein tolles Video über das E-Portfolio an der Pädagogischen Hochschule des Kantons St.Gallen (PHSG, Schweiz) erstellt. Zu Wort kommen im Videoclip auch zahlreiche Studierende, die ihre persönlichen Eindrücke mit dem E-Portfolio an unserer Hochschule schildern. Natürlich freut uns dieses positive Feedback zum E-Portfolio ganz besonders, zumal wir auch keinen Einfluss auf die Produktion dieses Videos genommen haben. Wir durften lediglich als Interview-Partner unseren Part spielen. The mission of the International Journal of ePortfolio (IJeP) is to encourage the study of practices and pedagogies associated with ePortfolio in educational settings. The journal’s focus includes the explanation, interpretation, application, and dissemination of researchers’, practitioners’, and developers’ experiences relevant to ePortfolio. It also serves to provide a multi-faceted, single source of information for those engaging in projects and practices associated with ePortfolio. A refereed (blind) peer-reviewed journal, IJeP embraces inquiry into ePortfolio in educational settings holistically; therefore, manuscripts considering the following areas of investigation are welcomed:

• instruction and principles of learning that utilize and inform practical, effective ePortfolio methodologies;
• evaluation and assessment methodologies and practices supported by ePortfolio;
• case studies and best practices regarding applications of ePortfolio for learning, assessment, and professional development supported by scholarship of teaching and learning practices and research methodologies;

Deshalb, und bevor auch Sie zur Kamera greifen, sollten Sie die klassischen Fehler (.pdf) einer Videobewerbung vermeiden. Sie ist nie eine digitale Doublette Ihrer Printbewerbung! Es ist die Essenz, ein Scheinwerfer auf Ihre Persönlichkeit, ein Werbeclip für Ihre Stärken. Der Zuschauer soll Sie besser kennenlernen und zugleich neugierig werden. Es darf aber nie ein Déjà-vu ihrer Standardbewerbung hervorrufen. Das Video sollte deshalb kurz, prägnant und inspirierend sein. Vor allem inspirierend. Und nicht länger als zwei Minuten. Bereits in der ersten Minute sollte die Hauptbotschaft kommen.
